Theory+Practice_1000pxThe primary focus of the activities of EFE lies on a systematic connection between educational offers and labour market needs. In the region of Stuttgart this link has a long and successful tradition since more than 40 years. EFE wants to implement this intensive link of theory and practice within the European Dual Colleges.

Alliance for dual education

The commitment of business partners is prerequisite for the success of dual educational offers on site. In the German-speaking area, companies are strongly engaged in dual education. This commitment also stands for a business culture driven by a social partnership of shared responsibility. Lots of German companies are among the beneficiaries of the globalization due to the export of their products and services. Therefore it is desirable that German companies support young people especially in regions with high youth unemployment – for example within an alliance of German companies for young people in Europe.

A strong commitment of companies and taking responsibility for the training of young people and employees is crucial for the development of sustainable structures and the successful link of education and employment. Starting point is the demand of companies in regions where they need specialists for their economic development despite high youth unemployment.

The European Foundation for Education chaired by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, former Mayor of the City of Stuttgart for many years, and Honorary President of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), advocates an “Alliance for dual education” with partners from business, education, politics and administration in order to take responsibility for the training of young people. The project is supported by the Robert Bosch Stiftung.

European Dual Colleges

Dual educational structures provide a close link of education and employment. As the number of young people looking for higher education increases, the European Foundation for Education develops dual study programs with a Bachelor degree within the “European Dual Colleges”.

Together with educational organizations in Germany and companies as well as educational institutions (Universities, Universities of Applied Sciences etc) on site, the European Foundation for Education complements existing educational offers in tertiary education with the European Dual Colleges. By a successful combination of theory and praxis, the employability of young people highly increases.
