Commitment for young people in Europe

The European Foundation for Education aims to open up better professional chances for young people in Europe and thereby contribute to reduce youth unemployment. The non-profit organization was founded in 2013 by Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, former Mayor of the City of Stuttgart for many years, during his presidency of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR).

Together with partners from education, business, politics and administration, the European Foundation for Education stands for a systematic connection of educational offers with labour market needs.

By linking education to employment, the European Foundation for Education wants to

  • open up better professional chances for young people
  • increase the work-based component of educational offers
  • improve the competitiveness of companies and
  • strengthen the regional economic development
